A sharp increase in global unemployment rates was one of the well-observed results of the economical crisis rose in the last months of 2008. In many countries, following the crisis, the unemployment rate set new records, sometimes even month by month. More and more unemployed are seen to have taken to the streets to make a living, especially in countries like Turkey where street-vending is a tradition and a huge unregistered sector which intrigues also those who wants to make a living without having a boss and paying tax.

Photographer Aytac Onay documents the high art of street-vending on the streets of Turkey’s financial capital Istanbul.
